Student housing allowance

If you are renting a room for longer than 3 months, it is possible to benefit from theAllocation Logement Social (ALS) grant or allowance, of approximately 90€ per month.
The purpose of this allowance is to help students with housing costs and it must be obtained directly from the Caisse d'Allocation Familiale (C.A.F), located at:
CAF de Lille
82, rue Brûle Maison, BP 645
59024 LILLE CEDEX
Tel: 0820 25 25 25

The application form (available in French only) can be obtained from the CAF site http://www.caf.fr/".You will also be required to include the following documents with your application:

  • A copy of your current identity card (European citizens) or a copy of a valid "carte de séjour" for non-European citizens. Students without a valid "carte de séjour" will be excluded from this grant.
  • A bank account identifier (relevé d'identité bancaire or "RIB") which your French bank will provide you upon request.

The AEU Housing Services can help you complete your ALS application form, however you need to expect at least a one-month delay for application processing. Funds are granted as of the 2nd rental month..

Due to the fact that the ALS allowance is paid directly to the student, the AEU cannot be held responsible for processing the application form, or for any required follow-up with the CAF or for delay in payment
